TREVISO – Arriva una splendida vittoria per Davide Persico, che regala al Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort una giornata di grande soddisfazione nella 109ª edizione della Popolarissima di Treviso, gara internazionale di classe 1.2. Un successo che porta entusiasmo in tutto l’ambiente della formazione guidata dal team manager Antonio Bevilacqua, insieme a Gábor Deák, alla famiglia D’Aprile e a Zoltán Bebtó.

La corsa si è conclusa con una volata a ranghi compatti, nella quale il velocista bergamasco ha dimostrato grande lucidità e tempismo, imponendosi davanti a Thomas Capra (Bahrain Victorious Development Team) e allo spagnolo Manuel Peñalver (Team Polti VisitMalta). Per Persico si tratta anche di un gradito ritorno al successo nella classica trevigiana, già conquistata nel 2023 davanti al allora compagno Francesco Della Lunga.

La gara, velocissima e coperta a 47.2 km/h di media, era stata animata nel finale da un tentativo promosso da Simone Uderzo (Solme Olmo), Artem Amosov(Ukraine Cycling Team) e Andrea D’Aiuto (General Store Essegibi F.lli Curia), ripresi dal gruppo quando mancavano circa 7 chilometri all’arrivo.

Per il Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort si tratta della seconda vittoria stagionale, dopo quella ottenuta da Lorenzo Nespoli al Tour of Sharjah nel mese di gennaio. Ottima anche la prova complessiva della squadra, impreziosita dal 6° posto di Marcin Budziński, segnale della compattezza del gruppo nel finale.

Al termine della gara queste le parole del vincitore Davide Persico:

“Sono partito non molto convinto perché sono stato malato fino a metà settimana e quindi non conoscevo bene le mie condizioni. Nel finale ho giocato un po’ d’esperienza: sapevo che era un arrivo che ti portava a partire lungo, quindi ho aspettato gli ultimi 100 metri per uscire”.

Sulla corsa “La squadra ha lavorato molto bene anche per ricucire sulla fuga che era arrivata ad avere 3 minuti e non era scontato ricucire. Nel finale ci siamo un po’ persi a causa di una caduta, ma avevo comunque Marcin e Bagatin che mi hanno aiutato a tenere la posizione. La soddisfazione è doppia se penso a quanto la corsa sia stata tirata e di non facile gestione. Ora dovrei correre il 28 e 29 due gare in Francia.”

Grande soddisfazione anche nelle parole del direttore sportivo Flavio Miozzo, che ha voluto sottolineare il lavoro di squadra:

“Devo dire che i ragazzi sono stati molto bravi. Non era una volata facile e nel finale abbiamo assistito a quattro cadute. Fortunatamente nessuno dei nostri si è fatto male e spero nemmeno tra gli avversari.
Questo successo ci regala serenità e diversi punti della classifica internazionale.  Mi piace sottolineare come sia maturato grazie al grande lavoro di tutti. Voglio ringraziare Marcin Budziński, Christian Bagatin, Bálint Makrai, Barnabás Peak, Takács Zsombor e Samuele Zoccarato per il lavoro fatto durante tutta la gara.
In particolare Zoccarato, che è sempre molto generoso e spesso all’attacco: oggi ha rinunciato alle proprie ambizioni personali per lavorare completamente per la squadra. Nel finale avevamo Budzinski e Persico come uomini di riferimento e loro si sono aiutati molto bene. Avere due atleti nei primi sei è un ottimo segnale.”

La squadra sarà poi impegnata il 18 marzo nella Milano-Torino, prova organizzata da RCS Sport. Si tratta della classica più antica del calendario ciclistico, che nel 2026 celebra i suoi 150 anni di storia e che si conclude, come da tradizione, sulla salita simbolo del Colle di Superga, a Torino.

In ammiraglia guideranno la squadra Dario Giovine e Antonio Bevilacqua.
Al via ci saranno Christian Bagatin, Filip Gruszczynski, Diego Bracalente, Alessandro Verre, Lorenzo Masciarelli, Lorenzo Nespoli e Alessandro Fancellu.

POPOLARISSIMA AND MILANO TORINO NEXT RACES

TREVISO – A splendid victory for Davide Persico, who delivered a day of great satisfaction for Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort at the 109th edition of the Popolarissima in Treviso, an international 1.2 class race. A success that brings enthusiasm throughout the entire environment of the team led by team manager Antonio Bevilacqua, together with Gábor Deák, the D’Aprile family, and Zoltán Bebtó.

The race ended with a bunch sprint, where the Bergamo sprinter showed great composure and timing, winning ahead of Thomas Capra (Bahrain Victorious Development Team) and Spanish rider Manuel Peñalver (Team Polti VisitMalta). For Persico it is also a welcome return to victory in the Treviso classic, which he had already won in 2023, then finishing ahead of his teammate Francesco Della Lunga.

The race, extremely fast and covered at an average speed of 47.2 km/h, had been animated in the final stages by an attack from Simone Uderzo (Solme Olmo), Artem Amosov (Ukraine Cycling Team) and Andrea D’Aiuto (General Store Essegibi F.lli Curia), who were caught by the peloton with around 7 kilometers remaining.

For Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, this marks the second victory of the season, following Lorenzo Nespoli’ssuccess at the Tour of Sharjah in January. It was also an excellent overall performance by the team, highlighted by Marcin Budziński’s 6th place, showing the squad’s cohesion in the finale.

At the end of the race, these were the words of the winner Davide Persico:

“I didn’t start the race with great confidence because I had been ill until midweek, so I wasn’t sure about my condition. In the finale I relied a bit on experience: I knew it was a finish where you had to launch your sprint from far out, so I waited until the last 100 meters to come out.”

On the race:
“The team worked very well also to bring back the breakaway, which had reached a three-minute advantage, and it wasn’t obvious that we would catch them. In the finale we got a bit split because of a crash, but I still had Marcin and Bagatin helping me hold my position. The satisfaction is even greater considering how fast and demanding the race was to manage. My next races should be on March 28 and 29 in France.”

There was also great satisfaction in the words of sports director Flavio Miozzo, who emphasized the team effort:

“I must say the riders were excellent. It wasn’t an easy sprint and in the finale there were four crashes. Fortunately none of our riders were injured, and I hope the same for our rivals.

This victory gives us confidence and valuable points for the international ranking. I would like to underline how it came thanks to the great work of everyone. I want to thank Marcin Budziński, Christian Bagatin, Bálint Makrai, Barnabás Peak, Takács Zsombor and Samuele Zoccarato for the work they did throughout the race.

In particular Zoccarato, who is always very generous and often on the attack: today he gave up his personal ambitions to work entirely for the team. In the finale we had Budzinski and Persico as our reference riders, and they supported each other very well. Having two riders in the top six is a very good sign.”

The team will next compete on March 18 in Milano–Torino, a race organized by RCS Sport. It is the oldest classic in the cycling calendar, celebrating 150 years of history in 2026, and traditionally finishes on the iconic climb of the Colle di Superga in Turin.

The team will be directed from the car by Dario Giovine and Antonio Bevilacqua.

The lineup will include Christian Bagatin, Filip Gruszczynski, Diego Bracalente, Alessandro Verre, Lorenzo Masciarelli, Lorenzo Nespoli, and Alessandro Fancellu.
