Sharjah (UAE) – Avvio di stagione estremamente positivo per il team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, grande protagonista nella prima frazione del Tour of Sharjah (Sharjah Flag Island – Wheat Farm, 129,6 km). La conquista della maglia bianca rappresenta la miglior gratificazione per un progetto giovane come quello guidato da Antonio Bevilacquae Gábor Deák.

La tappa inaugurale si è conclusa con il successo del belga Jens Reynders (Qatar Pro Team), vincitore in 2h49’54”davanti a Mohammad Almutaiwei (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z).

BILANCIO: Splendido 3° posto per Lorenzo Nespoli, che completa il podio, conquista la maglia di miglior giovane, il 2° posto nella classifica GPM e sale subito al 3° posto nella classifica generale.
Ottima anche la prova di Davide Persico, 5° al traguardo e già 10° nella generale.

DICHIARAZIONI

Grande soddisfazione nelle parole degli atleti direttamente dal Tour of Sharjah, che si svolge interamente nell’Emirato di Sharjah.

Lorenzo Nespoli:
«La tattica prevedeva di lavorare per Persico. Sono entrato in una fuga sul GPM che ha preso un buon vantaggio, arrivando ad avere fino a due minuti. Nel finale sembrava che il gruppo potesse rientrare, ma abbiamo tenuto duro fino al traguardo e ora mi ritrovo in maglia bianca. Puntavo agli abbuoni perché tengo molto alla classifica generale. Dopo il lungo viaggio mi sentivo appesantito, ma evidentemente in gara mi sono sbloccato».

Davide Persico:
«La squadra ha lavorato molto bene. Abbiamo provato ad anticipare con Nespoli per costringere le altre squadre a tirare. Nel finale, un po’ confusionale, ci siamo persi qualche ruota per organizzare al meglio la volata, ma siamo comunque riusciti a raccogliere un terzo e un quinto posto. Inoltre Lorenzo ha guadagnato secondi preziosi in ottica classifica generale».

Soddisfatto anche il direttore sportivo Zamparella, alla guida del team dall’ammiraglia:
«I ragazzi sono stati attenti e determinati. Nella prima fase Bagatin è entrato in fuga e poi Nespoli. La fase di gara era delicata e abbiamo iniziato a crederci. Ora ci aspetta una tappa piatta e poi una cronometro ed un arrivo in salita: siamo fiduciosi per le prossime tappe».

Un inizio di Tour estremamente promettente per il team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, che si propone subito come protagonista nella nuova categoria.

NESPOLI 3RD PLACE AND WIHTE JERSEY 

Sharjah (UAE) – An extremely positive start to the season for Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, major protagonists in the opening stage of the Tour of Sharjah (Sharjah Flag Island – Wheat Farm, 129.6 km). The conquest of the white jersey represents the greatest reward for a young project such as the one led by Antonio Bevilacqua and Gábor Deák.

The opening stage ended with the victory of Belgian rider Jens Reynders (Qatar Pro Team), who won in 2h49’54” ahead of Mohammad Almutaiwei (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z).

RESULTS: A splendid 3rd place for Lorenzo Nespoli, who completes the podium, wins the Best Young Rider jersey, takes 2nd place in the KOM classification, and immediately moves up to 3rd place overall.
An excellent performance also by Davide Persico, 5th at the finish and already 10th overall.

STATEMENTS

Great satisfaction in the words of the riders directly from the Tour of Sharjah, held entirely in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Lorenzo Nespoli:
“The plan was to work for Persico. I joined a breakaway on the KOM climb that gained a good advantage, reaching up to two minutes. In the finale it looked like the bunch might come back, but we held on to the line and now I find myself in the white jersey. I was aiming for the bonus seconds because I care a lot about the general classification. After the long trip I felt a bit heavy, but clearly in the race I unlocked myself.”

Davide Persico:
“The team worked very well. We tried to anticipate with Nespoli to force the other teams to chase. In the final, which was a bit chaotic, we lost a few wheels to organise the sprint properly, but we still managed to collect a third and a fifth place. Moreover, Lorenzo gained precious seconds for the general classification.”

Also satisfied was sports director Zamparella, leading the team from the team car:
“The boys were attentive and determined. In the first phase Bagatin went into the break, then Nespoli. It was a delicate phase of the race and we started to believe in it. Now we face a flat stage and then a time trial and a summit finish: we are confident for the next stages.”

An extremely promising start to the Tour for Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, which immediately presents itself as a protagonist in the new category.
