TORTOLÌ (ITA) – Ancora una top 10 per il Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort nella terza tappa, la Cagliari–Tortolì (168,3 km). A chiudere in 8ª posizione è stato Davide Persico, al termine di una volata particolarmente complicata e combattuta.

La frazione, partita da Cagliari e sviluppatasi attraverso l’entroterra fino all’Ogliastra – la celebre “terra dei centenari” – si è conclusa con uno sprint ad alta velocità. La squadra ha fatto il possibile per supportare Persico nel giocarsi le proprie carte nonostante una partenza nelle retrovie.

La vittoria è andata a Dusan Rajovic (Solution Tech-NIPPO-Rali), che ha regolato il gruppo in 3:57:01.

Le dichiarazioni

Davide Persico:
“Non posso dirmi pienamente soddisfatto del piazzamento, ma è in linea con le mie attuali condizioni di forma. È stata una volata complicata in cui ho provato a destreggiarmi al meglio. Sono partito piuttosto arretrato, attorno alla quindicesima posizione, e poi ho rimontato. Ragiono comunque in prospettiva, anche in vista dei prossimi appuntamenti: qui in Sardegna stiamo mettendo chilometri e ritmo nelle gambe.”

In ammiraglia, Gianluca Valoti ha analizzato così la giornata:
“Per noi era una tappa di transizione e Persico ha dovuto un po’ districarsi, perché siamo una squadra con tanti scalatori ed in quest’occasione non eravamo strutturati per lanciarlo allo sprint.”

Lo sguardo è già rivolto alla frazione di domani, Arbatax–Nuoro (152,8 km):
“Sarà una giornata impegnativa, adatta agli scalatori. Per la nostra squadra sarà il turno di Fausto Masnada e Alessandro Verre.”

Con ogni probabilità la quarta frazione risulterà determinante ai fini della classifica generale. I oltre 3000 metri di dislivello concentrati in poco più di 150 chilometri offriranno numerose occasioni per fare selezione.

Dopo la partenza (ore 11:10), i primi 20 km pianeggianti lasceranno spazio a una lunga ascesa verso il GPM di Genna Silana (1002 m), considerato il “tetto” della corsa: 20 km al 4% medio, con tratti centrali più impegnativi. Seguirà una discesa panoramica verso Cala Gonone, prima di affrontare i 2,4 km oltre il 10% che porteranno al GPM di Dorgali.

Dopo un tratto tra discesa e pianura, si tornerà a salire verso Oliena e quindi verso Nuoro, dove sarà posto un ulteriore GPM. Ma il punto cruciale della giornata sarà la salita di Orune–Su Pradu, GPM di 1ª categoria: circa 12 km al 6% medio, con vetta posta a 26 km dall’arrivo.

Nel finale, a 6 km dal traguardo, la strada tornerà a salire per circa 2 km al 5%, prima dei saliscendi conclusivi e del rettilineo finale a Nuoro.

Una tappa dura, selettiva e potenzialmente decisiva, che potrebbe ridisegnare la classifica generale e mettere in evidenza gli uomini di montagna.

TORTOLÌ (ITA) – Another top 10 finish for Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort in Stage 3, the Cagliari–Tortolì (168.3 km). Crossing the line in 8th place was Davide Persico, at the end of a particularly complex and hard-fought sprint.

The stage started in Cagliari and wound its way inland towards Ogliastra – the renowned “land of centenarians” – before concluding with a high-speed bunch sprint. The team did its best to support Persico in playing his cards, despite starting the finale from the rear positions.

Victory went to Dusan Rajovic (Solution Tech-NIPPO-Rali), who won the sprint in 3:57:01.

Davide Persico

“I can’t say I’m fully satisfied with the placing, but it reflects my current condition. It was a complicated sprint where I tried to manage as best as possible. I started quite far back, around fifteenth position, and then moved up. I’m thinking in perspective as well, with the next races in mind — here in Sardinia we’re building kilometres and race rhythm.”

From the team car, Gianluca Valoti analysed the day:

“For us it was a transition stage and Persico had to fight a bit on his own, because we are a team with many climbers and on this occasion we weren’t structured to lead him out in the sprint.”

Eyes on Tomorrow – Arbatax–Nuoro (152.8 km)

All attention now turns to what is likely to be the key stage of the race. With over 3,000 metres of elevation gain packed into just over 150 kilometres, Stage 4 could prove decisive for the general classification.

After the start (11:10), the first 20 flat kilometres will give way to a long climb towards the Genna Silana KOM (1002 m) — the highest point of the race: 20 km at an average of 4%, with steeper central sections. A scenic descent towards Cala Gonone will precede the 2.4 km climb at over 10% leading to the Dorgali KOM.

Following a section of descent and valley roads, the race will climb again towards Oliena and then Nuoro, where another KOM will be located. However, the crucial point of the day will likely be the Orune–Su Pradu climb, a 1st category KOM: approximately 12 km at 6% average gradient, cresting 26 km from the finish.

In the finale, with 6 km to go, the road rises again for about 2 km at 5%, before the rolling run-in and the final straight in Nuoro.

A tough, selective and potentially decisive stage, tailor-made for the climbers and capable of reshaping the overall standings.

For Team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort, it will likely be the day of Fausto Masnada and Alessandro Verre.
