SELÇUK (TUR) — Arriva un ottimo 3° posto per il team MBH Bank–CSB Telecom–Fort nella tappa inaugurale del Tour of Turkey, chiusa oggi in volata dopo la Çeşme–Selçuk di 148,7 km.
A conquistarlo è il bergamasco Davide Persico, preceduto in uno sprint molto affollato da Tom Crabbe e Simon Dehairs (Alpecin–Premier Tech). Persico conferma ancora una volta che il 2026 è un anno di rilancio: ha già ottenuto una vittoria e diversi podi.
«Un arrivo da brividi — racconta Davide — in cui erano presenti tutti i migliori velocisti e quindi non era semplice trovare la posizione. Per me era fondamentale arrivare a trovare la miglior posizione a meno 3 km dall’arrivo: lì c’era un’inversione a U e diventava poi complicato recuperare se si rimaneva imbottigliati».
Le difficoltà non sono mancate. «Tutto è filato liscio fino ai meno 2 km. Lì ho perso delle posizioni e quindi era fondamentale rimontare. Non è stato semplice, però siamo riusciti a tornare davanti e conquistare questo piazzamento. Un bel risultato, che ci permette di partire bene al Tour of Turkey, una gara di prestigio che assegna molti punti».
La gara vedrà ora altre occasioni per velocisti, mentre Alessandro Fancellu curerà la classifica generale dopo le belle prove di Hainan.

GENOVA: Al Giro dell’Appennino con arrivo a Genova, arriva il 10° posto di Luca Cretti. Il corridore del team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort ha ottenuto una buon risultato se pensiamo che solo un mese fa era fermo per dolori alla schiena. Vittoria di Ludovico Crescioli che precede Thomas Pesenti e Domenico Pozzovivo.
La gara è presto spiegata da Gianluca Valoti. “Siamo venuti qui con la voglia di far bene ed alcuni segnali sono arrivati. Cretti è stato bravo a lavorare per il team e poi trovare il risultato personale. Abbiamo visto il recupero anche di Verre, caduto al Tour of the Alps, e Masciarelli. Probabilmente ci aspettavamo qualcosa in più, ma per ora va bene così. Continuiamo a lavorare visto che ci aspetta un periodo intenso.”

SELÇUK (TUR) — A great 3rd place for the MBH Bank–CSB Telecom–Fort team in the opening stage of the Tour of Turkey, concluded today in a sprint after the 148.7 km Çeşme–Selçuk.
The podium was taken by Bergamo rider Davide Persico, who finished behind Tom Crabbe and Simon Dehairs (Alpecin–Premier Tech) in a very crowded sprint. Persico once again confirms that 2026 is a comeback year: he has already secured a win and several podiums.
“A chilling finish,” Davide recounts, “with all the top sprinters present, so it wasn’t easy to find position. For me it was essential to be in the best position with 3 km to go: there was a U-turn there and it becomes difficult to recover if you get boxed in.”
There were difficulties. “Everything went smoothly until the last 2 km. There I lost some places, so it was crucial to come back up. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to get to the front again and secure this placing. A nice result that allows us to start the Tour of Turkey well, a prestigious race that awards many points.”
The race will offer more opportunities for sprinters, while Alessandro Fancellu will look after the general classification after strong performances in Hainan.

GENOA: At the Giro dell’Appennino finishing in Genoa, Luca Cretti took 10th place. The MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort rider achieved a good result considering that just a month ago he was sidelined with back pain. The victory went to Ludovico Crescioli, ahead of Thomas Pesenti and Domenico Pozzovivo.
The race is briefly explained by Gianluca Valoti. “We came here wanting to do well and we received some signs. Cretti did well to work for the team and then find a personal result. We also saw the comeback of Verre, who crashed at the Tour of the Alps, and Masciarelli. We probably expected a bit more, but for now this is fine. We keep working as an intense period awaits us.”
