PERSICO 10° AL TOUR OF HONGRIE

LA GIORNATA: Per la formazione italo‑ungherese è stata una giornata in cui si è lavorato per la soluzione in volata e si è cercato di stare lontano dai problemi con gli uomini di classifica, come Alessandro Fancellu e Márton Dina, che ora sono a 20″ dalla maglia di leader. Si è gareggiato sotto una fastidiosa pioggia e in una giornata fredda che ha condizionato la marcia dei corridori.
DICHIARAZIONI: Archiviata questa 3ª frazione, è tempo di bilanci a partire dallo sprint di Persico, che ha dichiarato: “La corsa è stata mossa e nervosa. Vento e pioggia per tutto il giorno. Nel finale, sull’ultima salitella (20 km dall’arrivo), diversi atleti hanno accelerato per prendere la discesa in testa. Io sono rimasto nelle primissime posizioni, ma il gruppo era frazionato e alcune formazioni World Tour hanno cercato di approfittarne anche a causa del vento. Finale davvero caotico: ho dovuto lanciare la volata per prendere l’ultima curva (-450 m) in buona posizione. Sono uscito primo ma ero lungo, quindi ho dovuto attendere e rilanciare la volata, perdendo l’attimo. Ripensandoci, avrei potuto osare e tirare dritto fino all’arrivo; la condizione è buona, avrei voluto raccogliere qualcosa di meglio.”
Un’emozione speciale per Márton Dina: “Sto correndo con la maglia di campione nazionale sulle strade dell’Ungheria, un fatto che mi rende orgoglioso. Da domani inizia il vero Tour of Hongrie.” Impegnato nella lotta per la classifica generale, Alessandro Fancellu ha aggiunto: “Fin qui è andato tutto bene, non ho perso tempo nelle tre tappe. Domani c’è la tappa dura e purtroppo prevedono pioggia forte: spero di non patire il freddo. Ci apprestiamo a vivere le frazioni che definiranno la classifica.”

Szekszárd (HUN): A 10th place arrives for the MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort team thanks to Davide Persico’s sprint at the finish in Szekszárd in stage 3 of the Tour of Hongrie. The stage was won by Belgian Tim Merlier, who beat Colombian Fernando Gaviria. For Persico it’s a return to the top 10 that confirms his consistent form, albeit with some final regrets, as the rider himself explained.
THE DAY: For the Italo‑Hungarian squad it was a day focused on setting up a sprint finish and staying clear of trouble with the GC contenders, such as Alessandro Fancellu and Márton Dina, who are now 20″ off the leader’s jersey. The race was held under persistent rain and in cold conditions that affected the riders’ performance.
QUOTES: With this third stage completed, it’s time for assessments starting from Persico’s sprint, who said: “The race was active and nervous. Wind and rain all day. In the finale, on the last little climb (20 km from the finish), several riders accelerated to take the descent in front. I stayed in the very front positions, but the peloton was fragmented and some WorldTour teams tried to take advantage, also due to the wind. The finish was really chaotic: I had to launch the sprint to enter the last corner (-450 m) in a good position. I came out first but was too long, so I had to wait and relaunch the sprint, losing the moment. In hindsight I could have risked and ridden straight to the line; my condition is good, I would have liked to achieve something better.”
A special emotion for Márton Dina: “I’m racing with the national champion’s jersey on Hungary’s roads, which makes me proud. From tomorrow the real Tour of Hongrie begins.” Fighting for the overall classification, Alessandro Fancelluadded: “So far everything has gone well, I haven’t lost time in the three stages. Tomorrow is the hard stage and unfortunately heavy rain is forecast: I hope I don’t suffer from the cold. We are preparing for the stages that will define the general classification.”
