Dopo il podio di Nespoli nella 1ª tappa, Budziński è secondo di giornata e ora secondo nella generale

Kalba (UAE) – Dopo l’ottimo avvio di ieri, con il 3° posto di Lorenzo Nespoli e la maglia bianca, il team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort si conferma assoluto protagonista anche nella seconda tappa del Tour of Sharjah.

Nella frazione da Sharjah Souq Al Jubail a Kalba Souq Al Jubail (129,6 km), il successo è andato all’estone Rein Taaramäe (Kinan Racing Team), vincitore in 2h44’50”. Alle sue spalle splendido 2° posto per Marcin Budziński(MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort), staccato di 58 secondi, seguito da Adne Van Engelen (Terengganu Cycling Team) a 1’04”.

Grazie a questo risultato, Budziński sale al 2° posto nella classifica generale, a soli 58” dalla maglia di leader, mentre Lorenzo Nespoli ora è  al 2° posto nella classifica dei giovani.

LA TAPPA

Giornata estremamente movimentata sin dalle prime battute, con continui attacchi e un gruppo numeroso che prende il largo già nella prima parte di gara. Dopo circa 40 chilometri si forma un drappello di una trentina di corridori che guadagna progressivamente vantaggio sul gruppo principale.

Nel finale, tra salite e scatti ripetuti, Budziński gestisce con grande intelligenza tattica la situazione, selezionando il gruppo dei migliori e lanciandosi all’inseguimento dei battistrada. Decisivo l’attacco negli ultimi chilometri che gli permette di giocarsi le posizioni di vertice e di chiudere con un prezioso secondo posto, arricchito dagli abbuoni intermedi e d’arrivo.

Marcin Budziński:
«Dopo la tappa di ieri pensavamo sarebbe stata una giornata più tranquilla, invece è partita subito fortissimo con tanti attacchi e piccoli gruppi in avanscoperta. Dopo circa 40 km mi sono trovato in una fuga che poi si è unita ad un’altra: eravamo una trentina davanti. Ho cercato di risparmiare energie e capire l’evoluzione della corsa. Il gruppo ci ha lasciato circa tre minuti e poi sono iniziate le salite. Sapevo che mi sarei giocato la tappa e ho provato a controllare la situazione. Ho attaccato quando il gruppo non voleva collaborare e nel finale eravamo in due a inseguire un corridore della Kinan, Taaramae (uomo di grande esperienza vincitore di tappe ai grandi giri). Non siamo riusciti a riprenderlo, ma ho vinto la volata per il secondo posto. Sono felice per la prestazione e e la corsa è ancora apertissima. Non mi aspettavo di essere già in questa condizione, spero di crescere ancora. Ringrazio tutta la squadra per il grande lavoro svolto».

MBH BANK CSB TELECOM FORT ONCE AGAIN AMONG THE PROTAGONISTS AT THE TOUR OF SHARJAH
After Nespoli’s podium in Stage 1, Budziński finishes second on the day and moves up to second overall

Kalba (UAE) – After yesterday’s excellent start, marked by Lorenzo Nespoli’s 3rd place and the white jersey, MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort confirmed its leading role again in the second stage of the Tour of Sharjah.

In the stage from Sharjah Souq Al Jubail to Kalba Souq Al Jubail (129.6 km), victory went to Estonia’s Rein Taaramäe (Kinan Racing Team), who won in 2h44’50”. Behind him, a splendid 2nd place for Marcin Budziński (MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort), 58 seconds down, followed by Adne Van Engelen (Terengganu Cycling Team) at 1’04”.

Thanks to this result, Budziński moves up to 2nd place in the general classification, just 58 seconds behind the race leader, while Lorenzo Nespoli is now 2nd in the young riders’ classification.

THE STAGE

An extremely lively day right from the start, with constant attacks and a large group breaking away in the early part of the race. After about 40 kilometres, a group of around thirty riders formed and gradually increased their advantage over the main peloton.

In the finale, with climbs and repeated accelerations, Budziński managed the situation with great tactical intelligence, selecting the strongest riders and launching himself in pursuit of the leaders. A decisive attack in the final kilometres allowed him to fight for the top positions and secure a valuable second place, enriched by intermediate and finish time bonuses.

“After yesterday’s stage we thought it would be a calmer day, but instead it started very fast with many attacks and small groups going clear. After about 40 km I found myself in a breakaway that later joined another one: there were about thirty of us in front. I tried to save energy and understand how the race was evolving. The peloton let us gain about three minutes and then the climbs began. I knew I could fight for the stage and tried to control the situation. I attacked when the group didn’t want to cooperate and in the finale we were two riders chasing a Kinan rider, Taaramäe, a very experienced rider and stage winner in Grand Tours. We didn’t manage to catch him, but I won the sprint for second place. I’m happy with my performance and the race is still wide open. I didn’t expect to be in this condition already, I hope to improve even more. I thank the whole team for the great work they did.”
