FANCELLU 8° AL TOUR OF HAINAN
WUZHISHAN (CHI): Arriva un 8° posto con Ale Fancellu nella seconda tappa del 17° Tour of Hainan (Danzhou–Wuzhishan, 214,1 km) che si è conclusa con la vittoria di Guillermo Silva, che ha preceduto Xabier Berasategi e Thomas Pesenti sul traguardo IN 5:18:05.
Il team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort si è distinto con azioni d’attacco ed il risultato finale: Christian Bagatin ha animato la prima parte della corsa con una fuga, mentre nel finale Fancellu ha lanciato un attacco veemente che ha spezzato il gruppo, portandosi dietro Berasategi, Vikokourov, Pesenti e Silva.
Sembrava l’azione buona. In discesa Fancellu ha provato nuovamente ad allungare insieme a Silva, guadagnando una decina di secondi, ma il tratto favorevole agli inseguitori e il vento frontale hanno permesso al gruppo di ricompattarsi all’ingresso a Wuzhishan. Negli ultimi chilometri si sono susseguiti attacchi e contropiede senza esito; un tentativo in cinque è stato ripreso nelle ultime centinaia di metri, consentendo a Silva di lanciare lo sprint vincente. Alessandro Fancellu ha chiuso in 8ª posizione, centrando la top 10.
DICHIARAZIONI: Parole di Alessandro Fancellu dopo l’arrivo: “In salita siamo riusciti a fare la differenza in 2 e prendere un poco di margine. Peccato che la discesa era molto adatta agli inseguitori e permetteva di fare molta velocità e quindi ci hanno recuperato, complice anche il vento frontale. Abbiamo lavorato con intensità, ma siamo poi giunti in volata dove è arrivato questo piazzamento. Oggi è andata tutto sommato bene, speravo qualcosa in più, però guardo avanti con fiducia e credo che, soprattutto la 4^ tappa, c’è l’arrivo posizionato alla fine di uno strappo impegnativo. Questo è il mio obiettivo in prospettiva e qui ad Hainan abbiamo una squadra molto competitiva.”

BURATTI: Aggiornamento medico su Nicolò Buratti: caduto nella tappa 1, è stato sottoposto a intervento chirurgico per e per microfratture a un dito.. L’operazione è andata a buon fine; Buratti, che ha pure una frattura composta al perone, è già rientrato in hotel e partirà a breve in Italia per proseguire il recupero.

Il 19 aprile il team sarà protagonista in Italia alla Torino–Biella con Bracalente, Chesini, Cipollini, Masciarelli e Takas, diretti da Davide Martinelli e Beppe Dileo.
20 APRILE TOTA:
A seguire, dal 20 al 24 aprile, uno degli appuntamenti chiave della stagione: il Tour of the Alps, gara di ottimo livello che si svolge nell’Euregio, la macroregione che vede Sud Tirolo, Trentino e Alto Adige. Al via Cretti, Dina, Gruszczynski, Makrai, Nespoli, Valent e Verre, con la direzione sportiva affidata a Gianluca Valoti e Flavio Miozzo.

Il 26 aprile doppio impegno: da un lato il prestigioso Giro dell’Appennino, con Ambrosini, Bracalente, Chesini, Fancellu, Masciarelli, Nespoli e Verre, diretti da Gianluca Valoti

MAGGIO: Il calendario proseguirà poi con il Tour of Hellas (6–10 maggio) e con il Giro d’Ungheria (13–17 maggio), che è la gara per la squadra italo magiara più rappresentativa della stagione, prima di chiudere questo blocco con il Circuito del Porto il 17 maggio.
Un programma fitto e articolato che conferma la volontà della MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort di essere protagonista su più scenari, valorizzando al tempo stesso gli atleti unghersi che sono al centro del progetto del team.
Stage 2 — Danzhou › Wuzhishan, 214.1 km 5:18:05
WUZHISHAN (CHN): Alessandro Fancellu took 8th place in the second stage of the 17th Tour of Hainan (Danzhou–Wuzhishan, 214.1 km), won by Guillermo Silva ahead of Xabier Berasategi and Thomas Pesenti.
MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort animated the race with attacking moves and a strong final result: Christian Bagatin enlivened the early part of the stage with a breakaway, while in the finale Fancellu launched a fierce attack that split the group, taking Berasategi, Vikokourov, Pesenti and Silva with him.
It looked like the decisive move. On the descent Fancellu tried again to extend the gap alongside Silva, gaining about ten seconds, but the section that favored the chasers and a headwind allowed the peloton to reassemble on the approach to Wuzhishan. In the final kilometres several attacks and counterattacks followed without success; a five-rider move was caught in the last few hundred metres, allowing Silva to launch the winning sprint. Alessandro Fancellu finished 8th, securing a top-10.
COMMENTS: Alessandro Fancellu after the finish: “On the climb we managed to make a difference in two and get a bit of a margin. It’s a pity the descent suited the chasers and allowed a lot of speed, and the headwind helped them catch us. We worked hard, but it came down to a sprint where we got this placing. Overall it went well today; I hoped for a bit more, but I look ahead with confidence—especially to stage 4, which finishes at the end of a tough climb. That’s my target and here in Hainan we have a very competitive team.”

BURATTI: Medical update on Nicolò Buratti: after a crash in Stage 1 he underwent surgery for microfractures to a finger. The operation was successful; Buratti, who also has a non-displaced fracture to the fibula, has returned to the hotel and will soon travel back to Italy to continue his recovery.
