KIRAN(TUR) — Il team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort conferma la sua competitività con una prova di alto livello nella 3^ tappa, Marmaris–Kıran, 132 km, del Tour of Turkey. Alessandro Fancellu ha chiuso al quarto posto, dopo una battaglia serrata sull’ultima, durissima salita.
Fancellu è stato tra gli ultimi a resistere all’azione del vincitore Iván Ramiro Sosa, tenendo l’inseguimento fino a circa 1,5 km dall’arrivo, quando un leggero calo lo ha privato del podio. Generosa la sua prova: ha chiuso a 26” da Sosa (36″ nella classifica generale), a dimostrazione di condizione e carattere.
Per la squadra si tratta di un’altra prova confortante dopo il podio di Davide Persico nella prima tappa: il gruppo sta dimostrando continuità e forza nelle frazioni più selettive.
DICHIARAZIONI: Arrivano dopo l’arrivo lev parole di Alessandro Fancellu:
“Sono soddisfatto a metà, è stato un vero peccato non riuscire a salire sul podio. Sull’ultima salita credo di essere partito forse un po’ troppo presto e l’ho pagato nel finale. Nel complesso stiamo andando molto bene: la squadra è competitiva e io sono sempre nelle zone di testa. Mi dispiace perché mancava davvero poco per un risultato più importante. Mi sembrava di avere tante energie, forse era meglio aspettare l’ultimo chilometro, ma la cosa positiva è che continuiamo a essere protagonisti. Dopo la prestazione in Cina al Tour of Hainan, questa è una conferma. Ci aspettano ancora tappe interlocutorie e, tra due giorni, un arrivo molto duro in cui darò il massimo per provare a risalire in classifica.”
DS: Parla il direttore sportivo Davide Martinelli che sta guidando il team: “La squadra è molto unita. Fancellu è stato esuberante e ha dato tutto: ora punta con decisione alla 6ª tappa, dove la salita finale sarà ancora più dura e probabilmente più adatta alle sue caratteristiche”.
Nono solo Fancellu: “Per le volate contiamo su Davide Persico e, più in generale, saremo pronti a cogliere le opportunità che si presenteranno di volta in volta.”
Ale Fancellu è attualmente 5° nella graduatoria degli scalatori.

FACELLU 4TH AT KIRAN – TOUR OF TURKEY

KIRAN (TUR) — MBH Bank | CSB Telecom Fort confirmed its competitiveness with a high‑level performance in Stage 3, Marmaris–Kıran, 132 km, of the Tour of Turkey. Alessandro Fancellu finished fourth after a fierce battle on the final, very tough climb. Fancellu was among the last to hold off the move by the winner Iván Ramiro Sosa, keeping the chase up to about 1.5 km from the finish, when a slight drop cost him a place on the podium. A generous effort: he crossed the line 26” behind Sosa, showing form and character.
For the team this is another encouraging result after Davide Persico’s podium in the first stage: the squad is showing consistency and strength on the more selective stages.
STATEMENTS: After the finish Alessandro Fancellu said: “I’m half satisfied, it’s a real pity not to have made the podium. On the final climb I think I may have gone a bit too early and paid for it at the end. Overall we’re doing very well: the team is competitive and I’m always in the front zones. I’m sorry because there was very little left for a bigger result, but the positive thing is that we continue to be protagonists. After the performance in China at the Tour of Hainan, this is confirmation. We still have some transitional stages and, in two days, a very hard finish where I’ll give my all to try to climb back up the classification.”
DS: Sports director Davide Martinelli, who is leading the team, said: “The squad is very united. Fancellu was exuberant and gave everything: now he’s firmly targeting Stage 6, where the final climb will be even harder and probably better suited to his characteristics.
Not only Fancellu: “For the sprints we count on Davide Persico and, more broadly, we’ll be ready to seize the opportunities that arise.”
Ale Fancellu is currently 5th in the climbers’ classification.
