BAOTING (CHI); Nella 4^ tappa del Tour of Hainan Lingshui › Baoting (132,7 km) arriva un’ottima prestazione per il team MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort. Alessandro Fancellu ha conquistato un ottimo 3° posto di tappa e risale al 5° posto della classifica generale. Un risultato che conferma la crescita dal talento comasco che in questo 2026 sta dimostrando il suo potenziale. A Boating vince Silva Guillermo Thomas (XDS Astana Team) che precede Thomas Pesenti (Team Polti VisitMalta) e Fancellu.
La prova ha però visto tutto il team molto attivo con Samuele Zoccarato è stato protagonista di una lunga fuga che ha animato la giornata.
LA TAPPA: La frazione si è decisa sull’erta finale di Qixianling. Alessandro Fancellu, tra i più propositivi, ha forzato sin dalle prime rampe selezionando il gruppo e portandosi dietro Berasategi, Crozzolo, Pesenti e Silva. Nelle ultime centinaia di metri la maggiore freschezza di Guillermo Thomas Silva ha fatto la differenza: Silva vince la tappa (seconda affermazione personale in questo Tour of Hainan) e riprende la maglia gialla. Thomas Pesenti chiude 2° di giornata; Fancellu completa il podio di tappa e guadagna posizioni in classifica generale.
FANCELLU: Queste le dichiarazione di Alessandro Fancellu subito dopo l’arrivo.
“Abbiamo lavorato duramente con i compagni seguendo il piano iniziale e interpretando la corsa con aggressività, impostando un’alta velocità per provare ad attaccare più lontano e creare gap per la classifica generale. Nel finale ho dato tutto: ho perso il secondo posto di giornata, è vero, ma avevo dato tanto anche in precedenza per vincere la tappa. Abbiamo comunque guadagnato posizioni e l’obiettivo era la top-5, ora sono quinto. Per il podio finale servono gli abbuoni e io non sono il più veloce, quindi resta difficile. L’importante è aver portato a casa questo risultato per il morale, in un momento in cui ci serve restare uniti.”

A seguire, dal 20 al 24 aprile, uno degli appuntamenti chiave della stagione: il Tour of the Alps, gara di ottimo livello che si svolge nell’Euregio, la macroregione che vede Sud Tirolo, Trentino e Alto Adige. Al via Cretti, Dina, Gruszczynski, Bracalente, Nespoli, Valent e Verre, con la direzione sportiva affidata a Gianluca Valoti e Flavio Miozzo.

BAOTING (CHI); In the 4th stage of the Tour of Hainan Lingshui › Baoting (132.7 km), the MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort team delivered an excellent performance. Alessandro Fancellu took a fine 3rd place on the stage and moved up to 5th in the overall classification. A result that confirms the progress of the Como-born talent who is showing his potential in this 2026 season. At Baoting the winner was Silva Guillermo Thomas (XDS Astana Team), who finished ahead of Thomas Pesenti (Team Polti VisitMalta) and Fancellu.
The race also saw the whole team very active, with Samuele Zoccarato protagonizing a long breakaway that animated the day.
THE STAGE: The stage was decided on the final climb of Qixianling. Alessandro Fancellu, one of the most aggressive riders, attacked from the first ramps, splitting the group and taking with him Berasategi, Crozzolo, Pesenti and Silva. In the last few hundred meters, the fresher legs of Guillermo Thomas Silva made the difference: Silva won the stage (his second personal victory in this Tour of Hainan) and reclaimed the yellow jersey. Thomas Pesenti finished 2nd on the day; Fancellu completed the stage podium and gained places in the overall standings.
FANCELLU: These are Alessandro Fancellu’s comments immediately after the finish. “We worked hard with my teammates, following the initial plan and racing aggressively, keeping a high pace to try to attack from far out and create gaps for the general classification. In the finale I gave everything: I lost the second place on the day, it’s true, but I had already given a lot earlier to try to win the stage. We still gained positions and the objective was the top-5; now I’m fifth. For the final podium you need bonus seconds and I’m not the fastest, so it remains difficult. What matters is having brought home this result for morale, at a time when we need to stay united.”
